(Although) I have attended numerous workshops where I learned from a number of accomplished , established artists, I have discovered that just 'doing the work' is often the best teacher. (We grow) through experience and especially by (making) mistakes. I have a lifetime of learning to achieve technical goals, but finding a way to actualize what I see and feel is what energizes me. The natural world around me, people with generous hearts and the beauty and suffering that is always before us are my primary sources of inspiration. I'm attracted to expression that captures human emotions. And I admire those artists who portray the human condition and our connection to the spirit living within all things. Most of my limited edition sculpture depicts indigenous people, representing what is wild, spiritual and most potent in human nature. There is nothing in this world more satisfying than creative work. How truly fortunate we are to be on this path together. |

Joe Cooper |
My husband, Joe Cooper, is my partner and collaborator. He's a wonder of mechanical and artistic capabilities and is responsible for single-handedly building the structure and most of the tools and equipment needed for casting bronze. In addition, he designs all of the bases to enhance the appeal of each piece, as well as doing all of the foundry work to bring the sculptures to completion. He is truly an alchemist. |
I believe creative expression is an inherent attribute available to each of us. It requires believing in yourself, acquiring the necessary skills to do the work, and finding your medium of expression -- whether that is writing, painting, teaching, sculpting or working with people. |
